Our story

Uncommon greens for uncommon people.

A rare-plant nursery in Foreman, AR born out of the dark — and grown, one leaf at a time, into a home.

Inside the 5th Ave Greenhouse

From a dark season to a jungle of meaning

About two years ago, I was a mom in her early forties working as a construction manager in downtown Houston. My kids had always filled my world — and with them back home and me alone in the city, the quiet got heavy. I was making good money for my family, but I was lost. Depressed. I needed something that made me feel needed again.

Houston is a hub for rare plants, and it became my lifeline. I started bringing plants home to my family every weekend. I built greenhouses to hold them, learned to grow them, propagate them, grow them huge. Today that obsession is 5th Ave Greenhouse — one of only a few rare-plant nurseries in Arkansas.

The rare ones saved me — they gave my care somewhere to go. That's why we're open to the public, and why education is at the heart of this place: to show what rare plants can do for your home, for your loneliness, for your heart. Uncommon plants for uncommon people — because we're rare, just like the greens we grow.

The skeleton

Dark, warm, safe — and dancing anyway

The skeleton in our logo is the depression — the dark, quiet place. He is dead inside, and yet: he is happy. He is needed by his plants. He sits with them, observes them, and is at peace simply being surrounded by them.

He could worry that he's gone, but he doesn't. He's too busy dancing in the jungle, grounded in the beauty all around him. He's proof that even in the shadows there's life, growth, and belonging — and that being a little uncommon is exactly what makes us special.
